Sunday Sunday

April 28, 2013 - Author: Fallen sky

2 egg am-Another beautiful spring day, the daffodils are starting to fade now, Azalea’s still going strong. Treats of Baby spinach, apples and bread crusts, make for happy quiet hens. Herbs watered, spinach sprouting. I am starting to realize when I combine spinach and kale the girls stop laying, maybe too much calcium and iron for them. Have to keep that in check

Bumble Bees!

April 26, 2013 - Author: Fallen sky

3 egg am-Warm weather and sunny days have the flowers blooming the early butterflies and bumble bees! I love the sound of the azaleas when you walk near them they are “buzzing” with life. Treats were the last of the red kale, baby spinach and apples. Not sure what next week’s treats will be. Flock looking happy, seeing some feathers lying about, perhaps molting, but not sure.

Happy Earth day. It’s a beautiful sunny day with a warm wind but the air is cool. Treats of apples, red kale and organic baby spinach on the menu. Everything is starting to “pop” azalea are inches away, forsythia and daffodils are blooming. I love how green the grass is. Flock wants OUT! Maybe as an earth day treat.

Flowers!

April 19, 2013 - Author: Fallen sky

4 egg am-I love spring and all it’s brilliant color. Odd day very humid as a front passes us from the south. I went to the store and seaarch for a new treat for the girls and found some red kale. So spinach/red kale week will begin. May buy a fruit of some kind to compliment. Flock is noisy and protesting confinment, but the weather has possible rain in the forecast so I’d rather leave them in. Very windy today, but otherwise dry so far. Eggs look great the last few days very clean with no spots.

Planted Easter gifts I got from family, one butterfly bush and one shrub. I hope they do well. I loe getting new plants to add to the yard

Daffodils!

April 18, 2013 - Author: Fallen sky

3 eggs am-A true sign of spring the daffodils are out in parts of the yard. One of my favorite flowers next to the Forget-me-nots. The crocus’ are almost past and soon the flowering bushes will pop. Buds on the trees, and nice warm sunny mornings. Rumors of a pending storm with big rains coming. Treats were last of Broccoli and honeydew melon with leftover honey wheat crusts of bread. Everyone looks healthy and happy.

Spring!

April 16, 2013 - Author: Fallen sky

Another warm day, slight breeze blowing, but it is pleasant outside. Brocoli and honeydew melon as treats. I’m trying to keep 2 treats going at once fruit and a vegetable for maximum vitamins. Coop looks great chickens are happy. Finishing yard work and palette garden today. Yesterday as promised I let the chickens out to free range, and when I went to check on them a turkey was with them. too funny.

Blustery Day

April 12, 2013 - Author: Fallen sky

1 egg am-Christopher Robin would have his umbrella ready on a day like today. A storm from the west has hit town, making winter feel like it never left. Apologizes for not posting the real world insisted I be in it, and my blog suffers for that. The news is good from the flock. Everyone is plump and happy, a bit annoyed that they haven’t free ranged all week.

This week is Broccoli and Honeydew Melon week. Good source of Vitamin D, C, and A in these eggs.

I have started planning my palette garden trying to figure out what to plant etc. So far Strawberry chard, Spinach, Kale and will add herbs in around those.
